Ian gave a great talk about his work on the trafficking of ApoE in astrocytes at Glia Camp 2019. It was wonderful to catch up with our colleagues from Duke and Eastern Carolina University.
CBP Departmental Retreat
We had a great time at our Departmental Retreat at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, featuring a keynote talk by Dr. George Langford. Greg and Ian presented posters, and we enjoyed seeing the massive whale skeletons!

Holiday dinner at Gourmet Kingdom
We enjoyed a Cohen Lab/Diering Lab extended family holiday dinner at Gourmet Kingdom in Carborro. The pecan shrimp, Szechuan boiled fish, Mao’s style braised pork and kung pao lotus root were our favorites!
Sarah presents at ASCB-EMBO Annual Meeting
Sarah and Ian enjoyed attending the ASCB-EMBO Annual Meeting in sunny San Diego! Sarah presented the lab’s work in a session titled “Organelle Interactome and Cell Plasticity Control”.

Sarah gave a talk and Ian presented a poster at the SouthEast Lipid Research Conference in Nashville, TN. We also got to see Elvis’s gold-plated Cadillac at the Country Music Hall of Fame!
Amit Joshi joins the lab
Amit comes to us from the NIH, where he identified ER-shaping proteins that regulate lipid droplet and peroxisome biogenesis. He will continue to study these proteins using live-cell and multispectral imaging. Welcome Amit!
Lab attends Triangle Cytoskeleton Meeting
The lab very much enjoyed attending the Triangle Cytoskeleton Meeting. Sarah gave a talk at the Pre-meeting Pub Tech Night at Imbibe, Chapel Hill, and everyone enjoyed the talks and poster sessions in lovely Saxapawhaw.
